In America, our currently conventional system is essentially driven by making money off of the land without consideration for the impact on community. As we encourage people toward local and regional food systems,  we also need to consider the social aspects of community building around food. Teaching people how to grow food and building the systems that support the people is perhaps just as important. We bring to light an example from the Navajo nation.

Sarah and I just came back from a conference of sorts. (Look up BardsFM!) She and I both had an opportunity to do some education for our peers regarding some topics that are near and dear to our hearts. For Sarah, that is the herbal medicine and healing,  and for me that is nutrition and soil health. We got to see some folks we haven't seen in a while, which was really cool, as well as gather for some amazing spiritual fellowship with our friends from across the nation! Here is our short recap of the 3 1/2 day conference.
